Postgraduate work is by no means essential for obtaining an ethical career. However postgraduate qualifications can be extremely useful, especially in the realm of international development. Where your degree is not specifically relevant to the field you want to work in, then postgraduate study is particularly important. If you have studied something more directly relevant, such as PPE, Engineering, Medicine, Geography, Biology etc, some post-graduate work could give you a certain amount of specialisation that would be extremely useful.
Some jobs and internships are only offered to postgraduates, see 'Postgraduate jobs' for more details.
