Discussion, Debate and Research
We are a group of students who are dedicated to help the fight against HIV/AIDS through various means, primarily raising awareness, fund raising and political advocacy. Bristol Stop Aids Society, affiliated to the University of Bristol Student's Union, is a member of the Student Stop AIDS Campaign, an exciting coalition of various like-minded organisations, co-ordinated by SPW.
Model United Nations is a student simulation of the ‘real’ UN, and involves debate on various resolutions (that is, proposed plans of action for political situations which relate to the various UN bodies). Each person in the debate plays the role of a delegate of a particular country, and has to argue such that the resolution suits their countries’ wants and needs. Basically, it’s debating with a UN-twist.
Aegis is a genocide prevention and awareness organisation. We have various awareness raising nights in Bristol such as speaker and film events, and also various campaigns to help end the genocide in Darfur.
We are a student-led charity that focuses on removing barriers to development using engineering. Our programmes provide opportunities for young engineers in the UK to learn about technology's role in development. By taking part in our activities, and with the support of the EWB-UK community, our members are making a difference to people's lives around the world.
U8 is a global network of students who want to engage with development issues without prejudice. We perform a number of roles, but for now you can view Bristol U8 as a group that meets in the pub to chat about international development. We don’t have a set position on the issue, and any opinion is more than welcome.
